Almost everything a cop does in a car can be accomplished in a Corolla that gets well over double the mileage.
It is further flatly unconscionable for the taxpayers to be buying free gas for police to use to run personal errands in fuel-inefficient cars.
We must immediately move police into more fuel-efficient cars through a program that could be called "Cops in Corollas." We must also immediately end the practice of take-home cars, unless the officer with such a car reimburses the City $600 a month to cover the use of the car, plus all gas the officer uses in non-police driving.
This take-home car benefit has become so outlandish and excessive that it's akin to giving every cop a $7,000 undeclared raise.

It's that almost that kind of worries me. I suspect that there are some improvements that could be made to the police fleets by throwing in some cars like the Corolla. You need to make a better case than the shoot from the lip stuff you are doing here to sell me. No doubt there are people who have studied this and can provide some meat to cover the bones of your post. I'd encourage you to link to them. So the Crown Vics are going away because Ford's not making them anymore and the domestic replacement still runs about 7 mpg lower than a Corolla but that's a lot better than the 13 mpg that is the difference right now.
I'm actually pretty impressed with Indiana's Carbon Motors. They've got guts in making a specialty car for this market. They might just provide better value than the Corolla you're so much a fan about.
